Mezzo Journal
Mezzo Journal is a simple journaling app designed to remove distractions and encourage honest reflection. I designed and developed this app as a way of learning app development and because I was looking for simple guided, easy-to-use journal.

Mezzo Journal is a guided journaling mobile app. Every morning and evening delivers to the user a different prompt and a safe space to briefly write their thoughts. Most of the prompts take inspiration from some of the greatest Stoic thinkers in history, including Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, and Seneca. There is no syncing or sharing, Mezzo Journal is meant to emulate an analog journal with the convenience and design of a modern app. None of your data is collected and all journal entries are saved on your device.

I created this app because I saw an opportunity in the space, but moreso because I wanted a simple way to prepare for and reflect on my life. I feel that I design my best work when a client gives me guidelines and constraints to work within. Mezzo Journal uses this principle, delivering short prompts that encourage reflection alongside a space to journal with a 200-character limit. Mezzo Journal is created for people who have wanted to journal but either don’t know what to write or don’t have the time.

Mezzo Journal is designed and developed by Shane Romeo in the free and open-source Godot engine. The app uses the font Prospectus designed by Dave Bailey.

Mezzo Journal was created in part because in my search to find the perfect journal app, I found that many of them require monthly subscription fees. Mezzo Journal is free forever.
